I can now call myself a proud owner of a 1994 Toyota Landcruiser HZJ75 Troopcarrier. This is a great 4WD with a 4.2 liter Diesel engine. It is amazing how much power this vehicle has and I am sure that it will take me to the most fabulous spots in Australia. I will post some more pictures soon but for now just enjoy the ones below.

Pimp my ride!
Monday, January 14th, 2008Happy New Year
Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008I wish you all the best for 2008. Let it become an outstanding year on both private as professional sides.
I have spent New Years Eve in the Docklands in Central Melbourne. Compared with New Years Eve in Berlin, the party in Melbourne was a bit boring. There were a lot of “Crowd Managers” but I don’t know why. It was not filled at all.
There were two fireworks: one at 9.15 pm for the families with smaller children and one at midnight. Both were reasonable and worth looking. I guess not as spectacular as Sydney but anyway…
The most annoying was actually that alcohol was not only not allowed in public areas, as it is the complete year over, but there wasn’t even a place where they sold alcoholic beverages. So… no champagne at midnight. That might be the reason why the New Year Eve celebration was not so exited. I had expected more from a city like this. Especially when the weather is so nice that you can celebrate all night long open air in a Tee. But I guess the government might have a reason for not allowing alcohol on events like this. I have seen on Discovery Channel that sometimes people can lose control when they drink. And since all Australians were prisoners once… Photos here .
Strangers in the night
Saturday, December 1st, 2007My house in the middle of the street
Tuesday, November 20th, 2007Finally the first photos of my house. I know! It’s small and I don’t have a pool but it’s cheap too, at least for the conditions in Melbourne. The house is located in a small private road. I have a shed and a carport, but as you can see no car. I will upload some photos of the interior as soon as the place is completely furnished. Hopefully soon!
Magpie attacks Dutch immigrant
Saturday, November 17th, 2007Scary bike ride today. I was attacked by some stupid bird. Research on the internet made some things clear to me: “For most of the year magpies are not aggressive, but for four to six weeks during nesting they will often defend their territory vigorously. People walking past may be seen as ‘invaders’ of the territory, prompting the magpies to fly low and fast over the person clacking their bills as they pass overhead.
The experience of a magpie attack can be quite alarming, but it is usually only a “warning”. Only occasionally will a bird actually strike the intruder on the head with its beak or claws. If this unusual behaviour persists, there are ways of reducing the risk of physical injury to humans.
Melbourne “Uptown”
Sunday, November 11th, 2007Last weekend I went Downtown. This weekend I went to the Dandenong Ranges National Park. Of course on my bicycle. It was a decent trip and I had to climb a lot. Therefore the view was awesome. And the ride downhill was a big pleasure. Photos: click here.
